The Excitement is Building!

We are building Kitty City!  This page will be updated regularly with information about this project.

Building History & Timeline

2011 - Misty Eyes Animal Center was founded.

2015 - 3.1 acres of land was purchased on Dan Jones Road in Avon.

2015 - Misty Eyes was granted a use variance by the Town of Avon to use this property as an adoption center and animal rescue facility.

2016 - Construction began on the ranch home that stood on the property.  The roof was raised and the inside remodeled.

2018 - Misty Eyes moved into the remodeled ranch, which is our current adoption center.

2018 - Misty Eyes began plans for the construction of the remaining buildings.  Thanks to our volunteer Ed Wren for helping with the design and local architect Don Flick who donate 100% of his services to help make this all possible.

2021 - Misty Eyes was granted approval for the site plans by the Town of Avon and the state.  This includes Kitty City, Canine Country, Education Hall, a parking lot expansion and drainage plans.

2022 - Misty Eyes obtained permits to begin construction of Kitty City.  This project is led by Scott Butrum, who is a long time volunteer and serves on our board of directors.

June of 2022 - Ray's Construction donated their services to remove a garage, this area will be part of the space of the future building, Kitty City.

June 2022 - Materials were ordered.  We will post photos and updates regarding the construction as it unfolds.
